The Easter Bunny brought lots of smiles to various locations in Elsberry on Saturday April 3rd.
During the morning, the first on Ms Bunny’s list of people to visit were residents of the Elsberry Health Care Center on the B Freeway. Each resident had the opportunity to chat with the bunny and have their picture taken with their fluffy friend.
At 2 p.m., nearly 100 local family members took part in photo ops with the Easter Bunny, followed by the Legion’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. Three designated areas divided the kids into age groups, as they searched for eggs with treats inside, as well as prize eggs.
In addition to the traditional 800 candy-laden plastic eggs, 30 kids found specially designated prize eggs that could be redeemed for $ 5 each at the registration desk. Three other kids located the coveted golden eggs which became $ 20 per egg when traded. The Golden Egg winners were Adeline Kayser, Asher Patton and Jaylynn Vitro.
Two organizations from the Elsberry American Legion (Post 226 with Legion Auxiliary 226) donated their time and funds for the success of the event as well as the generous prizes. Many thanks also to the members of the Elsberry National Honor Society and other volunteers for stuffing the eggs and donating candy. All were grateful for Linda Koch’s secret identity stealth work as the Rabbit.
